"My grandfather's family came from Abergavenny[Williams] and Ireland [McCarthy's]. I often wonder if there are any relatives still there. I have been doing the family tree for years and have quite a lot.....But I cannot find much about grandfathers brothers, with common surnames like Williams it is a bit difficult. My mother was a Williams from Newport too. I have been back to the UK a few times in the 70s,80s and 90s. It is becoming so expensive and I am getting older so am not sure if I would come back. There is a big family of cousins in Newport, but don't know of any still in Abergavenny. My parents, brother and I left Newport in 1948 for Australia. My mother,Emily Williams is 92 years old and living in Queensland - 2000 miles from me. " - Joan Windust

"My grandmother was born in Pontypridd. When she was 15 she was seperated from her two younger brothers and have never seen them since. Six months ago I found her mothers sister who is the only living relative she has had contact with in 50 years. Her name is Gladys De Mora and lives in Clevedon. My main hunt now is for her brothers who I have had no luck at finding. Their names are Douglas and Terrance Webber - quite a popular name I know. They had an older sister who died around 1943 by the name of Maya. Their mother May Webber nee Little died around 1945 and the boys were sent to boarding schools. This unfortunately is all the information I have. My grandmothers name is Pearl Diane Clark nee Webber and was born in 1936. Any information anyone can give me in finding my grandmothers brother would be appreciated, not for me but for my grandmother." - Ms Penny Stanborough
