Welsh music is always guaranteed to stir emotions and bring on a bout of hiraeth. Over the years it has been used to enhance the hwyl at many church and chapel services as well as concerts and, of course, rugby matches. But which really are the popular ones?
Now is your chance to have your say and at the same time have an opportunity to win another great CD, this time one of Welsh Folk music - "Drws Agored" by one of Wales' best known folk groups - Plethyn.
Last month the competition featured well known Welsh tunes and the most popular voted one was Myfanwy, a very poignant one for me as this was my late mother's name. The winner of the CD "Take Me Home", kindly donated by Sain, was Mrs Lynne Monks who now lives in Bristol.
This month, we are looking at more Welsh tunes and all you have to do is look at the list of the five folk songs below and select which ONE you think best evokes the spirit of Welsh culture. Then, send your nomination to music@hiraeth.co.uk together with your full name, street address, town or city and country of residence, postcode / zip code and e-mail address.
At the end of the month, the song with the highest number of votes will be declared the winner and then ONE entrant who nominated that tune will be selected at random to win the prize. The prize-winner will be notified by e-mail after the 1st of June and will be announced here next month.
Next month, a different selection will be available to choose from and another great CD to win, so lets get your votes in for this month's selection - NOW.
