12 tracks, including “Crac”, “Baban”, “Mae’r Ffynnon yn Sych” and “Di-Gwsg”, published price £12.98, Wales United members price £11.70 plus postage and packaging £1.50 in the UK or £2.20 in Europe or £2.70 outside of the UK
The name of this CD is taken from a song based on a poem which, as Sian states “Expresses the need to hide behind the masks of acceptability – a realisation of my own inability to stay true to myself! One minute I am the wise old woman crying for the pains of all mankind, the next, a successful working woman, lonely in her wealth and ambitions and finally a loud, laughing teenager hiding her insecurities behind a half empty pint glass. Why can’t I just be myself? Mind you, who the hell am I anyway?!”
18 tracks, including “Os Ymadael” by Bob Delyn, “Taith Madoc” by Aberjaber, “Jigolo Harri Morgan” by Ar Log, “Seidr Ddoe” by Plethyn and “Fe Drawodd yn Fy Meddwl” by Dafydd Iwan, published price £12.98, Wales United members price £11.70 plus postage and packaging £1.50 in the UK or £2.20 in Europe or £2.70 outside of the UK
This is a really superb selection of wonderful Welsh folk songs brought together by some great musicians. A must for any collector of Welsh music and provides a great deal of ‘Hwyl’.
9 tracks, including 22 pieces of music including traditional childrens songs such as “Deryn y Bwn” and “Dacw Mam yn Dwad”; “Improvisations ” by William Matthias; “Harp Concerto in B Flat ” by Handel and “Diversions for Two Harps” by Osian Ellis, published price £12.98, Wales United members price £11.70 plus postage and packaging £1.50 in the UK or £2.20 in Europe or £2.70 outside of the UK
This is Osian Ellis at his best, showing his wide repertoire and range of emotions that can be extruded from Wales National instrument. This is a CD that you can just put on for some enchanting background music or listen to intently in the quiet of an evening in front of a log fire.
15 tracks, including Tafarn yn Nolrhedyn, Maen Wlad I Mi, Un Cam Yn Nes, published price £12.98, Wales United members price £11.70 plus postage and packaging £1.50 in the UK or £2.20 in Europe or £2.70 outside of the UK
A great CD if you want to listen to some good Welsh folk music sung with gusto and 'humour'. I had the pleasure to watch them perform live at the Welsh Gymanfa Ganu in Cincinnati Ohio and the audience were overwhelmed. Obviously you won't be able to see their facial expressions on the CD but hopefully one day they will make a DVD of one or more of their concerts. Its also worth mentioning that the members of the group make up a large proportion of the Penrhyn Male Voice choir in Bethesda, North Wales.
15 tracks, including Dod Dy Law, Cwcw Fach, Lwli Lw, published price £12.98, Wales United members price £11.70 plus postage and packaging £1.50 in the UK or £2.20 in Europe or £2.70 outside of the UK
Gwenan is from Pwllheli on the Llyn peninsula in North-West Wales and was brought up in a Welsh-speaking family in which music played an important part. She has won many harp and singing competitions at major Eisteddfodau and has represented Wales at many festivals both in the UK and overseas. "Y Gwenith Gwynnaf" literally translates as "the whitest wheat" and is her debut album consititing of a collection of Welsh folk songs and traditional music played on a small Celtic harp and a Welsh triple harp. Her music is haunting and I hope that this will be the first of many recordings we can enjoy.
